Reflection 4

In comparing and contrast, we should compare two subjects. Like two countries. In the first paragraph we have the introduction that will give a clue about the subjects that we will talk about. Then the second paragraph will talk about the similarities between the two subjects. After that the third paragraph will show the differences between the two subjects and the last paragraph will show the conclusion and I have to show my opinions in both subjects and show if I prefer one of them.

How to make olive oil

Olive oil is an important material in our food. It’s rich with vitamins and proteins. Today I will talk about how olive oil is made.

First of all, the olives are harvested by hand or with sticks. They are collected in nets beneath the trees. Then the leaves and stones are removed and the olives are washed before crushing to remove any remaining impurities .Then the olives are crushed by granite stones within 24-36 hours of picking. The olive paste is layered on mats and it’s put under pressure from a screw or hydraulic press. At last the liquid is collected and put through a centrifugal separator to separate water and impurities from oil. Finally the oil is canned or bottled and distributed in the market.

As we see the production of olive oil is a big process and it’s not easy. To make a good quality oil you shouldn’t keep the olives after harvesting for a long time, otherwise you will have a poor quality of olive oil.

Reflection 2

Narrative writing contains 4 main paragraphs:

The introduction: the past continuous is used in it e.g: I was drinking water when Zayed cried.

Paragraph 2: we should describe what we saw e.g: suddenly the driver hit the man and ran away.

Paragraph 3: we should describe what happened.

The conclusion: we describe our feeling.

Reflection 3

Present passive is used in process essays with past participle and it has the same structure of the procedure as introduction , main paragraph and conclusion . And it contains about 150 words with linking words the same as procedure ( first , second , next , after that and finally).

UAE & Brunei

There are many places tourists love to spend vacation in like the UK, Malaysia, Brunei, the UAE, and the USA. Today I will talk and compare about the UAE and Brunei. Both countries have similarities and differences. And I will try to focus on these two issues.

The most important similarity is Islam. Both countries are Muslim and they learn and study it in schools. Oil is another important thing ; both countries have big reservoirs of oil and they depend on it for their income. Also the two countries have hereditary monarchies , so there is no election system to choose the next president.

There are many differences. The climate in the UAE is very hot in the summer and cooler in the winter. In Brunei the climate is the same all the year. The driving system in the UAE uses the left side for the driver, but in Brunei they use the right side and the road is opposite. Also the currency in the UAE is the dirham, but in Brunei the currency is the ringget. The UAE is located in the Middle East region, but Brunei is located in East Asia.

I haven't been before to Brunei but it is as modern a country as the UAE and I hope I could visit it in the future.

Comparing between Abu Dhabi and Fujairah

I want to compare Abu Dhabi and Fujairah. In this essay I will list the similarities and differences between these two wonderful towns.

Like Abu Dhabi, Fujairah is a member of the union; both cities have the same culture and heritage. Both have their own ruler who cares about the interior situations. Both Emirates have an airport and sea port.

However, there are many differences. Although both Emirates have their own ruler, Fujairah follows the federal government in Abu Dhabi. Also Abu Dhabi has more big towers than Fujairah. Fujairah has more beautiful beaches than Abu Dhabi. Also Abu Dhabi controls a larger area of the UAE than Fujairah. Fujairah is cooler than Abu Dhabi most of the year, but in the winter Abu Dhabi is cooler because it’s desert.

In fact I like both Emirates. I’m from Fujairah, but I live, work and study in Abu Dhabi. Both Emirates have good advantages, but at the end I have to go back to Fujairah to stay there , die and be buried there too.

A Car Accident

Many people have an accident in their life. Most of them feel it was the end of ther life . I was one of these people .Today I will talk about my experience when I had a bad accident.

In the first week of 2008, I was going with my wife to register for the new ID system . I was driving my Nissan Tiida coming from Al Shamkha area where I live. There was a roundabout ; the law forces the people in the roundabout to stop , so we can proceed , but I prefer to slow down so I make sure that the roundabout is empty . Behind me there was a 6 wheel vehicle, who could see that there was nobody in the roundabout and he was driving too fast . When I was in the middle of the roundabout the 6 wheel driver wanted to go back and make a u –turn but he found me in the roundabout . When I saw him it was too late for me to accelerate and escape . He hit my car from the back and forced me to hit the trees between the two roads. My car moved about 100m before it stopped . I was shocked . The smoke started to come out of my car . I helped my wife to get out of the car . She was unconscious . One local guy stopped his car and helped me . He suggested keeping my wife in his car to relax and cool down . I discovered later the guy was working with the police . The 6-wheel driver stopped his car and ran toward me asking about my situation. I still didn’t believe that I was still alive , thanks God . The car was totally damaged and the insurance canceled it and paid me back.
In fact, this experience has made me more careful on the road, and I expect the mistakes of the other drivers . I’ll never forget this.

Reflection 1

Procedure essays are simple. They contain 3 parts : the introduction, the main paragraph and the conclusion . It should be 150 words , and you should use the imperative form: do this, do that, don't do this , don't that . You should avoid the - ing form as in the flow charts. You don't need imagination or creativity.

A Trip to UK

Last summer I went to London for treatment. It was the first time for me to visit the UK.

The UK is a beautiful country; people there are very lovely and helpful. When I reached there I stayed in a hotel in Sussex Gardens Street, but I didn't like it, so I moved again to West End Quay in Parade Street. I liked the place there. In the first 10 days I entered my son in a Harley street clinic, for examinations and for an operation. When he was OK, I went to Brighton to visit a British family there. I have known them for 20 years.

Brighton is also a beautiful city. I returned to London on the same day. I stayed there for one month. I spent most of it shopping in Oxford Street, Harrods & Selfridges. Also I went to Hyde Park, Madam Tussaud's Museum, London Eye and Buckingham Palace. I love London from my heart. But I was sad I didn't have time to visit Manchester city. Because I want to see the Old Trafford. I'm mad about Man Utd club, so maybe I will go there on my next visit to the UK.

What I don't like about the UK is most of the hotels had very small rooms . For that reason, I left my hotel to live in an apartment.
The UK is a beautiful country, and for sure I will visit it again and again.

How to book a holiday

Many people around the world enjoy traveling to another country to have a holiday especially in the summer. Today I will talk about how to book a holiday.

Many years ago people tried to book a ship or any transportation facility by themselves. Then Thomas Cook established an agency for traveling and he handled all booking arrangements for the people and nowadays it's considered one of the most famous travel agencies in the world.

To book a holiday, first you should choose a destination for your trip. Then you can go to a travel agency to book a flight and hotel .Some travel agencies have a package for some destinations with great value. But in my opinion it's better to book the holiday by yourself through the internet.

First you search for a hotel through the internet; there are very famous websites for hotels like booking .com and trip advisor. Then you can book a flight from any air company like Al Etihad or Fly Emirates. On the internet you can find the cheapest price and in this way you can save more money than booking through a travel agency.
